What Mahaam is
Mahaam is project management and time tracking for teams and the clients they work for. A team keeps its projects, tasks, issues and time in one workspace, turns tracked time into reports and invoices, and can invite its clients to a customer portal where they see only what the team shares with them.
Mahaam works on the web, on iPhone, iPad and Android, on your desktop and in your browser, with one account for all of them.
Get help
Email us at [email protected]. If you can, write from the email address on your Mahaam account, and tell us:
- what you were trying to do, and what happened instead;
- which app you were using (web, iPhone or iPad, Android, desktop or the browser extension) and its version;
- a screenshot, if you have one.
Never send us your password, recovery codes or access tokens. We will never ask for them.
When you're signed in on the web, you can also choose Report a problem in your account menu. The report reaches the team with the page you were on and the technical details that help us find the problem.
Signing in and forgotten passwords
Sign in with the email address and password you registered with. Where the sign-in page shows Continue with Google or Continue with GitHub, you can use that account instead.
Forgot your password? On the sign-in page choose Forgot password? and enter your email address. We email you a 6-digit code that works for 10 minutes; enter it and choose a new password.
If the email doesn't arrive, check your spam folder and make sure you typed the address you signed up with. If you no longer have access to that email address, write to us at [email protected].
Two-factor sign-in and a lost phone
Two-factor authentication adds a code from an authenticator app to your password, so a stolen password alone can't open your account. Turn it on in My profile on the web, or in Settings → Two-step verification in the mobile app. While you set it up you get recovery codes: save them somewhere safe, away from your phone.
Lost or replaced your phone? On the sign-in page, after your password, choose Use a recovery code instead and enter one of your saved codes. Each code works once. When you're back in, set up two-factor authentication again on your new phone and make new recovery codes.
Code not accepted? Check that your phone's clock is set automatically; the codes depend on it.
No recovery codes either? Write to us at [email protected] from the email address on your account. For your safety we must confirm that the account is really yours before we can help, so this takes longer than using a recovery code.
Joining a workspace
Work in Mahaam happens in workspaces, and you can only join one when it invites you. Ask an owner or an admin of the workspace to invite your email address. You'll get an email with an invitation link: open it, then sign in or create an account with the same email address the invitation was sent to.
If the link says it has expired or has already been used, ask for a new invitation. Clients are invited the same way, and they see only the workspace's customer portal.
Starting something new? You can create your own workspace from the Workspaces page and invite your team.
Changing the language
Mahaam is available in English and Arabic, and the Arabic version reads right to left.
- On the web: use the language button at the top of any page, or set your language in My profile.
- In the mobile app: go to Settings → Language & appearance. The app may ask you to restart it to finish switching the layout direction.
Notifications
Mahaam tells you when something needs you, such as a task assigned to you or a comment on your work. Everything appears in the bell at the top of the app.
- On the web: in each workspace, Settings → Notifications lets you mute kinds of notification and, where the server sends email, choose email and a daily digest. If you install the web app, your browser can show push notifications too.
- On your phone: allow notifications when the app asks. To stop them, turn them off for Mahaam in your phone's settings.
- Signing out of a device stops its notifications.
Not getting a notification you expected? Check that that kind isn't muted in your notification settings, that notifications are allowed for Mahaam in your phone or browser settings, and that Focus or Do Not Disturb is off.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account yourself, in the mobile app or on the web, and you then have 14 days to change your mind. Delete your Mahaam account has the steps, what is removed and what is kept, and what to do if you can't sign in.
Mahaam apps
One Mahaam account works in all of these:
- Web: here, in any up-to-date browser. It's always the latest version, with nothing to install. Your browser can also install it as an app.
- iPhone and iPad: Mahaam on the App Store.
- Android: Mahaam on Google Play.
- Desktop for macOS, Windows and Linux, with a timer in the menu bar or system tray. It updates itself.
- Chrome extension: your timer, your next tasks and issues, and a quick way to file an issue or log time for the page you're on.
Which version do I have? In the mobile app it's at the bottom of Settings; in the desktop app it's in Settings → About; for the extension, look on your browser's extensions page. Please include it when you write to us. If something isn't working, update to the latest version first.
